10 years after it was launched the Macan is heading into its second model generation being only the second fully electric vehicle in the Porsche model range. Since 2014 Porsche has delivered more than 800,000 examples of the Macan making it one of the best-selling vehicles in all of Porsche history.
The success is set to continue with this newly designed model, Porsche has created yet another timeless design, using the latest equipment, technologies, and characteristic Porsche performance, to construct a vehicle that creates the ultimate driver experience. The all-new Macan is set to shape the future for Porsche and launch it into a new level of E-Performance.
Innovative Charging Architecture
Using some of the battery and charging concepts from the Taycan, the all-electric Macan also encompasses the 800V architecture however a newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE) has been installed meaning the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent within approximately 21 minutes at a sustainable fast charging facility. Up to 240kW of energy can also be recuperated via the electric motors while driving. Our engineers have worked to further develop the E-Performance concept and optimised many components.
Combining the Porsche DNA and sharper proportions, the new Macan models give a dynamic and dominant feel. The classic Porsche proportions have been further developed and optimally enhanced to retain the brand identity and make it instantly recognisable.
Features include a sloping fly line in combination with frameless doors much like the Taycan design to give this SUV a sleek, sporty and coupe-like design, The headlights are divided into two parts: the flat upper light unit with four-point daytime running lights is embedded in the wings and emphasises the width of the car.
The Macan has always been a vehicle that was built for everyday use and practicality, when designing the all-new Macan the practicality element was a major factor, because of the electrification element it means luggage spaces has increased (depending on model variant) with luggage compartments in both the rear and now front boot area.
Moving to the interior this is unmistakably Porsche, the width of the cockpit has been emphasised, and the rising design of the centre console heightens the impression of a low and performance-focused position in the vehicle giving ultimate driving experience and comfort. An LED light strip is integrated into the thoughtfully designed trim strip of the cockpit and doors. It acts as both ambient lighting and a communication light. Depending on the situation, it provides information or warnings – such as for greetings, charging processes or in conjunction with the driver assistance systems. The equipment in the new Macan enables a high degree of customisation.
Connectivity & Infotainment
Much like the recent models released by Porsche including the Cayenne and Panamera the Macan is also equipped with the latest generation display and operating concept with up to three screens, for the first time passengers are able to view the information, adjust settings and stream content. Also for the first time, the Porsche Driver Experience also include a heads-up display with reality technology providing for example navigation directions that are seamlessly integrated into the real world without the need to interrupt the driving experience. The new Macan takes computing performance to a new level whether driving or relaxing as a passenger the comfort elements make the Macan an experience like no other.
